Meet Your Doctor

Dr Xaftellis, affectionately called “Dr Argie” by her patients, graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1995 and worked as a general practioner with special interests in emergency medicine, weight loss and dermatology.

She began cosmetic medicine in 1998 at the first laser hair clinic in Perth. Since that time she has broadened her interests to include all modalities that treat problematic and aging skin. She has also been performing liposuction for over 12years and specializes in low to moderate volume work. Dr Argie has published studies on cosmetic procedures in medical journals. Dr Argie was an early member of the Cosmetic Physician Society of Australasia and is also a Fellow of the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery (the highest qualifications possible in Australia with only 2 doctors in WA currently achieving the required standards.). She was elected onto the ACCS council in 2010 and in 2011 became the WA state rep for the CPSA. Her duties include organizing education for cosmetic doctors and selection of new members into the society. Her ACCS obligations involve her in decision making for the future directions of the College, including working with government to raise standards in the cosmetic medical industry.

She regularly attends national and international cosmetic conferences on the latest advances and lecture doctors in advanced resuscitation procedures. Dr Argie is acknowledged through out Australia's an advanced cosmetic injector. She has a keen interest in anti-aging medicine and is a member of the Australasian Academy of Anti-aging, a branch of the American and World societies. At present Dr Argie has retained some general practice shifts in the after hours emergency setting to maintain her general medical skills and knowledge. In the past Dr Argie has taught both medical students and postgraduate doctors which she loved as she feels that education is essential to good patient care.

Dr Argie believes that the key to good health is a balance of the physical, emotional and spiritual. For this reason she continues to instruct aerobics and pilates, and attends regular meditation. At a personal level she regularly supports community fund raising events and has joined a charity organization that volunteers cosmetic services to selected misfortunate individuals.

Dr Argie feels that cosmetic improvement helps to maintain psychological health by improving confidence to allow a person’s true inner beauty to shine. Nature has gifted us all with unique features. The procedures that she performs act to enhance and maintain these features through the aging process. A process, which is unfortunately accelerated by the Australian sun.

Before undergoing any procedure, Dr Argie recommends that her patients first form a realistic desirable result in their mind. Through the consultation process, she explores how the desired outcome can be achieved and any risks involved. Despite cosmetic medicine being one of the safest fields of medicine, any medical procedure runs the risk of adverse reactions. Some are preventable while others are not, no matter how experienced your physician. What should be important is the ongoing care by your doctor and their staff. The patient should feel comfortable to call at any time with any question concerning their treatment and supported in the event of any adverse events. Dr Argie personally feels very strongly about such patient care and aims to provide it regardless of whether the procedure is simple or complex. Her guarantee is safety, support and satisfaction for her patients.
