Threadlifting

WHAT IS THREADLIFTING

Thread lifting is a treatment that has become very popular in Europe and the USA as an alternative to a face lift for suitable patients. It involves the placement of barbed suture threads under the skin which are pulled to lift and anchor the skin upwards. The result is a subtle lifting of the skin. It is used most successfully in the eyebrow, cheeks, jaw line and upper neck area in skin that is just starting to sag. When combined with fat transfer, the result is a fuller more rounded cheek line restoring the youthful contours of the face.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS AND RISKS?

This procedure is generally quick safe, has minimal bruising and swelling or pain. The sutures can be removed relatively easily if needed and be redone in the future. All side effects and risks are discussed in the consultation process.

HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

The results of thread lifting alone are subtle, with fat transfer a little more dramatic. They tend to last at least 3 to 5years, but can be easily redone. The effects are near immediately seen but continue to improve in the following three months as the body lays collagen around the threads causing a secondary lifting.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

Threadlifting is charged per area treated. There is an additional theatre fee. If a suitable candidate for the procedure, the considerably lower cost makes it an affordable alternative to a facelift.

The latest in thread lifting sees a new dissolvable thread which creates a lift and then dissolves over 18 months leaving the result without a foreign object in the skin. It is extremely popular in Europe and Argera is very excited about getting this new technology.
